Welcome to Sterrett Gardens
Welcome to 2018! We survived the American Hemerocallis Society National Convention and tour last summer! After spending part of September rogueing cultivars from the field that needed to be replaced, we moved many new cultivars to the field for increase. You should notice a number of daylilies that have been on the display list are now in our price list with descriptions. Come visit or check out our website (700+ pictures) to see all of the new plants that we have for sale this year. If you were one of the more than 600 visitors and saw a daylily that you do not see listed, email us and inquire about availability.

To visit our garden on Virginia's Eastern Shore on the Delmarva Peninsula, either travel north from Virginia Beach on RT 13 to Exmore, VA, turn north on Rt. 178 (traffic light at the Exxon station). Go about 1 mile and turn left at the Phillips Trustworthy Hardware Store (still Rt. 178N) toward Craddockville. Go about four miles (road winds a bit), bear right at Craddockville United Methodist Church and go about 1 mile. Turn left onto Island Neck Road and go to the end. We are the last home on the left - cream with blue-green shutters and lots of daylilies.
If you want to find us using GPS, enter 12324 Island Neck Rd., Painter, VA.If you are coming south from Salisbury, Maryland, come south on RT 13 to Painter, VA, turn right at the traffic light onto RT 614. Go about 5 miles until road comes to a T with RT 178 (Boston Rd), turn left. Go about 1/2 mile and turn left on Island Neck Road.
If you are coming to visit and know some of the plants that you wish to buy, send us your list ahead of time so that we can have them dug for you. We appreciate your patience. Plants may be ordered for fall but may not be dug while you wait in July – depends upon the weather.
We have a policy in the garden of letting children (<16 years old) select the daylily of their choice from the field. If we have sufficient quantity, we dig a double fan for them to take home for their garden. We have found that this is a great way to get youth excited about gardening and while they are deciding on their very favorite, the parents have a chance to look around too.
We ship at least a double fan. If you wish to have substitutions of equal or greater value, please include a list of suitable substitutes. We include bonus plants worth approximately 20% of the order for orders under $100, 40% for those over $100! Please list suggestions. We offer a collection of 10 varieties (our choice) for $40. When ordering a collection, please let us know if you prefer a particular range of colors. All plants are freshly dug and individually labeled. Our garden is state inspected and we continue to maintain a preventative spray schedule. Shipping charges are $14 plus $1 per plant over four plants. The minimum order is $20. We ship by priority mail (service with UPS is not satisfactory from the Eastern Shore of Virginia). We generally ship on Monday with plants arriving in two to three days. Virginia residents must add 5.3% sales tax. Wholesale prices of selected varieties are available upon request.
